Alien Isolation is a survival horror game set 15 years after the original 1979 film, published by Sega.My responsibilities as Lead Environment Artist were to build and manage a team of 20 3D, concept and lighting artists, work alongside design and tech to develop the proprietary engine, working with story and design teams to come up with concepts for the different levels, oversee art production and art direction across the game environments. We had a lot of reference from Fox but it only went so far, the game design required we expand the space far beyond the cramped corridors of the Nostromo and so the biggest challenge here was breaking down that reference into its component parts so it could be extrapolated and rebuilt into a completely different setting whilst maintaining authenticity to the original film.
